Studienkolleg Mittelhessen

At Studienkolleg Mittelhessen, international applicants prepare for studies at German universities. It offers courses to prepare for the university qualification assessment examination (Feststellungsprüfung), which serves as proof of higher education eligibility for foreign applicants.

Studienkolleg Mittelhessen offers the following courses:

1. T-course (technical, mathematical, and natural science programs except biology and biochemistry)

   • Core subjects: German (10 hrs/week), Mathematics (8 hrs/week), Physics (7 hrs/week)
   • Additional subjects: Computer Science (4 hrs/week), Chemistry (3 hrs/week)
   • Suitable for: Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences (except biology and biochemistry)

2. W-course (economics and social science programs)

   • Core subjects: German (10 hrs/week), Mathematics (6 hrs/week)
   • Additional subjects: Economics (6 hrs/week), Business Administration (4 hrs/week), Sociology (6 hrs/week)
   • Suitable for: Economics and Social Sciences

3. G-course (arts and humanities programs)

   • Core subjects: German (10 hrs/week), History (6 hrs/week)
   • Additional subjects: German Literature (6 hrs/week), Sociology (6 hrs/week), Statistics (2 hrs/week)
   • Suitable for: History, Foreign Languages, Law, Political Science, German Studies, etc.

4. M-course (medical and biological programs)

   • Core subjects: German (12 hrs/week), Biology (5 hrs/week)
   • Additional subjects: Physics (5 hrs/week), Chemistry (5 hrs/week), Biology (5 hrs/week)
   • Suitable for: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology

Instruction comprises 32 weekly hours. Attendance is mandatory.

The university qualification assessment examination is taken at the end of the course and consists of written and oral exams in the respective subjects.

Application Process

1. University Application:
   • Apply via uni-assist for a degree program at one of the universities affiliated with Studienkolleg Mittelhessen (Philipps University Marburg, Justus Liebig University Giessen, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen)
   • Deadlines:
     • Summer semester: September 1 - October 15
     • Winter semester: March 1 - April 15
2. Entrance Examination:
   • Invitation from the university specified in uni-assist
   • German test (online, 40 minutes)
   • Dates:
     • June (for winter semester)
     • January (for summer semester)
   • Exemption possible with DSH-2 from Uni Marburg/Uni Giessen or DSD II by sending certificate to aufnahmetest-Fk-studienkolleg@uni-marburg.de
3. Course Start:
   • Summer semester: Beginning of March
   • Winter semester: Beginning of September

Application Documents

The following documents are required for application via uni-assist:

• Online application for admission
• Proof of German language skills (at least B2)
• Educational certificates (school-leaving certificate from your home country; if available, university entrance examination from your home country; if available, academic records and grading system for studies outside Germany)
• Passport
• Official translation of all relevant documents not originally in German into German or English

Entrance Examination

The Studienkolleg entrance examination consists of a German test (40 minutes). The German test assesses your language skills and is conducted online as a cloze test.
