Application Process

Applications are not submitted directly to the preparatory college but via Uni Assist. The application process is divided into the following steps:

  1. Application via Uni Assist:
    • Application to the desired university and degree program
    • Deadlines:
      • 20 September to 01 November for the following summer semester
      • 20 March to 01 May for the following winter semester
  2. Entrance Examination:
    • Takes place on-site
    • Gap-fill test in German (C-Test)
    • Online registration required using admission data
    • Can be repeated at most three times
  3. Course Start:
    • End of August (winter semester), end of January / beginning of February (summer semester)

Documents for Application

For the application via uni-assist, you need the following documents (scans of original documents):

  • School certificate in the national language
  • Official translation of the school certificate into German or English
  • Passport
  • Proof of German language skills: B1 certificate, TELC B1, TestDaF 4x3, or proof of completed German course at B2 level

Entrance Examination

The preparatory college entrance examination consists of a German test (40 minutes).

The German test assesses your language skills and is conducted as a gap-fill test (C-Test).

Accommodation and Living Expenses

  • Accommodation: The preparatory college offers 10 rooms for new students each semester. Self-organization is recommended.
  • Deutschlandticket or RMV Semester Ticket: Included in the semester fee.
  • Living expenses: Min. €1,000 - €1,200/month (incl. rent, health insurance).

Notes for External Candidates

An external FSP (university qualification exam) is only possible if the following applies:
  • Attending the preparatory college is not possible.
  • Attendance at two consultation appointments.
  • You have good school grades.
  • You have at least C1-level German proficiency.
  • The preparatory college director grants approval.
